Misión Impunidad (Ingles)

Impunity is not an empty word , abstract. Impunity is the child who can not drink milk, the patient does not get pain relievers in the blackouts that affect families. To prevent impunity also be forgotten, Transparency Venezuela convened a group of prominent Venezuelan journalists to answer what happened to the corruption scandals that have shaken the country in recent years. Mission Impunity is born, to expose possible corrupt and demand justice in the country.

Corruption with No Remedy

Lissette Cardona – At least 400,000 kilos of medicines expired between 2010 and 2014 without fulfilling their goal: curing or alleviating the conditions of people with a disease. The drugs were not distributed to the hospitals throughout the country.

Lisseth Boon – The powdered milk imported, packaged and distributed by Venezuelan state-owned company Corporación de Abastecimiento y Servicios Agrícolas, La Casa C.A (under the Ministry of Food, Minpal, which is responsible for the purchase of 60 percent of the product consumed in Venezuela) , is being smuggled into Colombia.

Lisseth Boon – Representatives of the public agencies responsible for construction of the new pantheon for Simón Bolívar are part of the intimate entourage of Minister Francisco “Farruco” Sesto, a confidant of President Hugo Chávez who assumed the construction of the new pantheon as director the Office of Planning and Special Projects of the Presidency (Oppe). Taking advantage also of his position as Minister for Culture, he benefited his close circle of colleagues, partners and friends.

What happened with the Cadivi case?

David González – President Nicolás Maduro reported that he will create a presidential commission to investigate how the exchange control system in place in Venezuela since 2003 was breached. The claim was an admission from the highest level of the State that corruption had nested in the assignment of preferential currency, US$25 billion as estimated by the former Minister of Planning. However, the commission has not clarified whether the findings have allowed establishing any culprits.
